Reminder: Light bulbs are considered as a daily household expense, meaning that you will have to change them yourself. We will only come to your apartment if a neon bulb or a light that it out of reach needs to be changed. This article aims to guide you in how to change all other forms of lightbulb.
In order to change the lighbulb, you will first need to find what the model number of the light is. You can do this by looking at the bulb that is no longer working.
Here is summary of which light bulbs might be in place at your apartment:
There are 3 sizes of light bulbs in our apartments: E27, E14, GU10. Naturally, the size of the new bulb needs to correpond with the old one that you are replacing.
LED E27 400lm - IKEA - They are for floor lamps, ceiling lights and wall lights
LED E14 400lm - IKEA - They are for nightstand lamps and desk lamps
LED GU10 400lm - IKEA - They are for spot-type lights
If you have to change a light bulb, try buying LED bulbs. They are better for the environment and will need to be changed less frequently as they do not use as much energy.
Changing the light bulb
- Make sure the light or the power is turned off for the operation
- With the help of a dry piece of cloth, hold the bulb by its cap (between the metal part and the head), unscrew the bulb that is no longer working.
- Then, screw the new one using the same process.
Bayonet bulbs
Bayonet bubls have small metal stems at their base:
- Make sure the light or the power is turned off for the operation
- To remove a bayonet bulb off the lamp, you need to gently press it towards the base and turn it to free the stems.
- To put the new one, follow the same process in reverse.
